Jason Momoa, known for playing Conan the Barbarian and Aquaman, is known for his tough guy onscreen persona. But in real life, the actor often shows his sweet side. He has a soft spot for his family, especially his mom.
Who is Momoa’s mom?
The actor was born into a family of artists. His dad, Joseph Momoa, is a painter and his mom, Coni, is a photographer.
Coni has German roots, and Joseph is of Native Hawaiian descent, hence their son’s amazing looks!
Momoa’s parents separated when he was a child, and he and his mom moved from Hawaii to Iowa.
The actor absolutely adores his mom
Coni raised her son as a single mother. Momoa never fails to show gratitude to her, and the two are very close.
In Canvas of My Life, a short film about his life, the actor acknowledged that single motherhood isn’t easy and gave special thanks to his mom for raising him right and for passing on her creativity, artistic outlook, and sense of adventure.
I was raised by a strong single mother. My mom’s an artist in every way. She’s a painter, a photographer. She’s a wanderer, always searching, always seeing. I guess you could say my mom gave me her eyes.
Thanks to his mom, young Momoa took up skateboarding and rock climbing. To him, these aren’t just hobbies: They're a way of life, in a sense.
The mom and son have a great relationship and share a special bond. Momoa often takes his mother to various events and shares occasional sweet snaps featuring her on his Instagram page.
Momoa’s mom instilled strong family values in him. The actor and his wife, Lisa Bonet, have two children, daughter Lola, and son Nakoa-Wolf. Momoa treats his stepdaughter, Zoë Kravitz, as his own child.
Coni must be so proud of her son!
