Whatever the Kardashians and the Jenners do, it always attracts a lot of attention. And, we must admit, the family often has to face criticism from fans and haters online. What is it this time? Kylie Jenner had her baby daughter’s ears pierced, and many people are mad at her.
The young mother shared a cute video of herself cuddling her 5-month-old daughter Stormi. Her followers quickly noticed that in the video (and the snap posted before it) her baby girl’s ears are already pierced.
Kylie’s decision to have her daughter’s ears pierced drew mixed reactions.
Some of her followers condemned the mom, saying that Kylie has subjected her daughter to unnecessary pain and that no one but the girl herself should have the right to make such decisions. Some people even say this counts as abuse.
One of Kylie's followers wrote:
I really don’t understand how people can put holes in their babies
Another one commented:
You just took away Stormi's choice. Your age is showing!
Others supported Kylie and wrote about their own stories of having their ears pierced at a very young age. Many wrote that they don’t even remember the procedure and that they aren’t mad at their parents at all for making this decision.
One user wrote:
Y’all need to stop complaining about the ear piercing and get over yourself it’s not your child and believe me if babies were not allowed to get there ears pierced then they wouldn’t do other moms do this my mom did it to me when I was a baby it doesn’t matter!!!!!

Well since I had these oh so large horrible holes put in my body as a child, I haven’t had any issues with my lobes and my piercings turned out great, healthy, healed, no infections etc etc. As a baby my mom said I didn’t even notice these big ole holes you’re over dramatizing. Done arguing about this. People are so sensitive. If you don’t want to pierce your baby’s ears - don’t. But don’t shame others for it. It’s safe, cute, and in some cases, cultural.
Perez Hilton, a famous blogger, along with some Twitter users, pointed out that it’s a very common practice among Latin Americans, and that there’s nothing wrong with it.
Here are some of the comments from Twitter:
As a (very feminist) Mexican-American woman, I have often complained about the fact that I was not asked if I wanted to pierce my ears. I have always, as far back as I can remember, have always had them pierced. No one asked for my consent in the matter. #terrible— BitchMisanthrope (@BitchMisanthro1) July 12, 2018
I had my kids ears pierced at 3 months... it’s better because when they get older they are more aware of the slight pain and get scared just by seeing the pierce gun..— Ms.Kinkologist (@MsToxicGoddess) July 12, 2018
If it has to be a child’s choice, let me ask my little niece if she also wants to go to school or get vaccinated, or get her hair brushed or teeth brushed etc.... 😜— A pizarro (@Apizarro6) July 13, 2018
Damn all those parents that do things for their babies without asking permission, like love them, feed them, clothe them. Give them shelter, pay for schooling etc. What if they don't want any of that? Please next generation of parents ask permission first..— Liz Gal (@lizzig66) July 14, 2018
Had my daughter's ears pierced at about 12 months, she screamed for a second, hit the woman with her bottle then laughed...and then we had ice cream 😁— jackiekelly🇬🇧🇺🇸 (@SwiftdogsH) July 12, 2018
Kylie’s sisters, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, also got flak for having their babies’ ears pierced.
What do you think about this whole situation? Is it OK for parents to pierce their young children’s ears, or should they wait until their kids are old enough to make this decision for themselves? And what about other forms of body alteration? Share your opinion in the comments!
