The loss of the son

The eldest son from the first marriage, Sage Stallone, was found dead in his apartment in Los Angeles on July 13, 2012. Although empty bottles of prescription drugs had been found at the scene, an autopsy showed that Sage died of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, and toxicology tests showed the man had not been taking drugs. According to police reports, there was no evidence of suicide.

Sage was only 36 years old and worked in the film industry like his father. Reportedly, he was diagnosed with a heart murmur at the age of 10. Sage led a sedentary lifestyle, smoked, and drank a lot of sugary soda. Sly commented on his son’s death:

When a parent loses a child, there is no greater pain. Therefore, I am imploring people to respect my talented son’s memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha.

Half-sister's death

In fact, the agonizing pain from losing close people only became greater when just a month later, Toni-Ann Filiti died of lung and liver cancer. She decided to leave hospital and opted for her mother Jackie’s house to spend the final days. Jackie Stallone commented on the loss of two close people:

I am doing terrible after having my grandson go, then my daughter at 48 years old. It isn’t easy. I don’t know what to do.

However, a few years later, the mother had something else to say. Allegedly, Sly became a victim of a planned blackmail scheme, crafted by his half-sister Toni-Ann. She, then 23, threatened him with a lawsuit alleging abuse, which caused "personal injury, including physical injury." Stallone was becoming one of the most paid Hollywood actors at that time, and his lawyers advised him to pay the girl just to keep ‘her mouth shut’. Jackie is sure Miss Filiti made up this whole story because of drug addiction:

Toni-Ann was on 65 OxyContin pills a day, and she threatened Sylvester. A drug addict will do anything. Sylvester was trying to help her. He caved in.

Sylvester Stallone has gone through so many difficult things in his life. He admitted that keeping himself busy helps a lot as well as strong support from friends and family. Only the man like Rocky Balboa himself can deal with such hard times.
