The press was particularly brutal and Alley had her fair share of abuse. However, she lost 50 lbs by 2014 and looked all the better for it. Her amazing weight loss is a result of her new active lifestyle which she doesn’t seem to fancy much.

I’ll do things that sound fun, like a dance class or yoga, or I'll walk or run. Sometimes, it's just whatever my friends are doing.

Weight loss was lucrative

Weight loss was not an entirely painful journey for Alley as she ended up making quite a lot of money from it. Before she lost 50 lbs, she joked about using her weight loss to her advantage and she did just that.

For Alley, staying fit and controlling body weight never has to get that extreme. In a 2014 interview with Women’s Health, Alley shared her thoughts on weight loss and the need for women to be confident about their bodies.

It's so important for women to look the way they want to look and feel the way they want to feel for their own reasons, not because someone's telling them to or because it's fashionable or trendy. Losing weight is losing weight, but just because you're skinny doesn't mean you're happy.

Alley’s weight loss journey may be far from over as she continues to work on staying on the right side of her scale but there is a lesson to be learned from her story, that being healthy is more important than anything else.
