Last Friday, a public statement was released outlining how exactly the sisters would be involved:

In addition to having the support of The Queen, his father The Prince of Wales, and his brother Prince William as Best Man, Prince Harry is also keen to involve his mother's family in his wedding. All three siblings of Diana, Princess of Wales will be in attendance and Lady Jane Fellowes will give the reading. Prince Harry and Ms. Markle both feel honoured that Lady Jane will be representing her family and helping to celebrate the memory of the late Princess on the wedding day.

The Spencer siblings have kept out of the news since the passing of their sister. However, they have maintained a good relationship with Prince William and Prince Harry. Lady Jane is known to have been involved in some charity work involving Prince Harry in the past.

Both sisters and their brother, Earl Spencer, will be attending the wedding.

Diana and Lady Jane had a rough patch after the divorce

Many people wonder why Lady Jane Fellowes has not been particularly vocal about her late sister in over 20 years. It turns out their relationship was rocked by the late Diana’s divorce.

Lady Jane is said to have introduced a young Diana to Prince Charles sometime after she got married to Robert Fellowes, the assistant private secretary to the Queen. After the divorce, this put Lady Jane in a bit of a bind. With the Queen far from pleased with the divorce, Lady Jane also had concerns about her associations with her sister.

The sisters did not speak to each other for 18 months following the divorce. And twenty years on, she still hardly ever speaks of her. Her last known comments were at Diana’s funeral where she read a poem by Henry van Dyke Jr.

Her appearance and participation at the royal wedding seems to indicate that indeed, there is no bad blood, and Lady Jane still cherishes the memory of her late sister.

Meghan’s father will walk her down the aisle after all

For months, there have been speculations as to whether or not Thomas Markle Senior will walk his daughter down the aisle. But the palace has finally confirmed that he will. Still, the wedding is far from regular, as the couple is still breaking some established traditions.

Meghan’s mother will ride with her to the church and will hand Meghan over to her father who will walk her to the altar.

In other news, Prince Harry has asked Prince William to be his best man at the wedding. Unlike Meghan, they will arrive to St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on foot.

The Duchess of Cambridge will also be attending the event, but the newest royal, Prince Louis, is likely to remain home with a nanny. The little boy is too young to witness what may be the most memorable wedding in the British monarchy for years to come, but he still has big brother George and sister Charlotte to tell him stories when he grows up.
