The award-winning star was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, and she went through nine months of chemotherapy and breast removal surgery.

She was in remission until 2013 when the star's doctors found out the cancer had spread beyond her breasts. Treatment began once again to deal with her condition, and she won.

However, once again in 2017, the doctors found a tumor in her sacrum. This tumor left Newton with a fractured hip which took about six months to heal.

Since then, the star has combined both chemotherapeutic and herbal treatments to ease her pain.

In the interview, Newton spoke about her battle with cancer and how she has been handling it. She expressed her opinion about the term "fighting cancer."

"I'm living with cancer, and it's going away. I'm grateful for everyday, and life is wonderful. I don't like the phrase 'fighting cancer' because that sets up images of battles and anger. I choose to see my body as winning, which is a much healthier mental picture."
