He began with a touching speech

Weiss had just won an Emmy for Best Directing for a Variety Special for The Oscars, and while he was up on stage getting his award, he made the moment forever special.

He gave a heartwarming speech about losing his mom just two weeks before the Emmy's, and said:

Part of my heart is broken, and I don’t think it will ever be repaired. But she’s in me.

The shocking and sweet proposal

But he wasn't done! He added that his mom had always told him to hold onto sunshine and, with everyone watching, he started speaking directly to his girlfriend, Jan Svendsen, calling her his sunshine.

And then, he shocked her by saying:

You know why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend? Because I want to call you my wife.

He got everyone bawling! And since the proposal hit social media, it has gone viral.

People are saying Weiss just raised the proposal bar so high that it might be a problem for the next person who wants to pull off a romantic proposal. What do you think?
