Losing Barbara Bush

Earlier this year, in April, the Bush family lost former first lady Barbara Bush after she chose to discontinue medical treatment.

Prior to her death, she had battled lung disease for years as the world watched and continued to send good wishes her way. Granddaughter, Jenna, who works with Today was particularly open about how the family was dealing with Barbara’s battle.

Precious moment with her namesake

Jenna definitely misses her beloved grandma, but she’s got another to look up to. Jenna Welch, Laura Bush’s mom. She is the woman the TV personality was named after.

The old lady lives in Midland and days ago her doting granddaughter popped in for a visit.

Jenna Bush Hager shared a precious photo of her hands holding onto her granny’s aged hands and beautifully captioned it:

Holding onto my namesake 99-year-old, Jenna Welch. She never graduated from college but never stopped learning: she taught me every constellation in the night sky and about beautiful foreign lands she would never get to visit. I loved seeing her today in Midland.

Love letters from grandma

She also shared another of them kissing. Both Jenna and her twin sister Barbara (also named after her late grandma) are very devoted to honoring their grandparents.
