However, on Tuesday the Queen’s husband made news as it was reported that he got involved in a car crash.

What happened?

According to the BBC, the Duke was driving his Land Rover near Sandringham estate when he crashed into another car, a Kia, with two women inside. Eyewitnesses stated that the Duke's car overturned during the powerful collision.

Miraculously, the 97-year-old royal was unhurt after his car overturned following the collision and walked away with no visible injuries. The passenger of Kia suffered an arm injury, while the driver got away with only cuts. Both were sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn for treatment.

However, the Duke didn’t accompany Her Majesty to the annual Christmas church service. The royal retired from public life in August 2017 so his presence was not necessary. The public was assured that the Prince is in good health and just wanted to spend Christmas festivities privately.
