'Roseanne' Star Sara Gilbert Has Got A Busy Schedule, But She Remains A Hands-On Mom To Her 3 Children

Actress Sara Gilbert has her hands full. She is a co-host on The Talk, has a lead role on Roseanne, plays Cheryl on the CBS sitcom Living Biblically, and is a mom of 3.

Gilbert's children

The Primetime Emmy Award nominee began acting at the age of 13 on Roseanne. She played the character of Darlene from 1988 to 1997, before she took on the same role upon the show's reboot.

In her personal life, Gilbert, a proud lesbian, married Allison Alder in 2001 and had their two children, 13-year-old Levi Hank Gilbert-Adler and 10-year-old Sawyer Jane Gilbert-Adler.

After her divorce from Alder, she got together with the acclaimed song writer Lisa Perry and has her third child, 3-year-old Rhodes Emilio Gilbert Perry.

Work-life balance

The sitcom favorite has never let her personal life get in the way of her work life and, in fact, she told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that her show The Talk is inspired by motherhood.

She wanted a forum for women to affect and shape opinions about the world.

The idea first came to her when she was feeling overwhelmed by parenthood and joined a mother's support group.

Loving relationship

Does she ever feel like she has taken on too much? Not at all. She is happy with where her life is at the moment and has built a beautiful relationship with her wife Lisa since they tied the knot in 2014.

The grunge-loving couple is often photographed having casual family moments, and they are known to pack on the PDA as well.
