Angelina Jolie Changes Divorce Strategy: Her Focus Now Is The Children And Healing The Family
Last week, embattled Tombraider star Angelina Jolie stepped out with four of her children: Knox, Vivienne, Zahara, and Shiloh. Photographers caught the party in Los Angeles as they made their way to a movie.
This is one of the rare occasions the actress and her children have appeared in public since the legal drama between Jolie and ex-husband Brad Pitt over child custody. Jolie accused Pitt of neglecting his fatherly duties, urging the court to insist he pay 50% of money required to take care of the children.
Since the split, all six children have been staying with their mother but often visit Pitt. At first, the couple sounded like the arrangement was working but now – not so much.
Change of plan
In the meantime, Jolie has changed her tactics for the divorce settlement with a major move. PEOPLE confirmed that she has let go of divorce attorney Laura Wasser. Taking her place is Samantha Bley Dejean. Mindy Nyby, a spokesperson for Jolie, shared this information.
Angelina has decided to change counsel to Samantha Bley Dejean, as Samantha’s expertise is the protection and best interest of children. Angelina appreciates Laura’s cooperation in transitioning the case over the past several weeks.
Jolie’s move is unprecedented, seeing as her recent accusations against Pitt seemed quite aggressive. Nyby did not give details as to why Jolie had changed her position and how it would affect her custody claims.

A source familiar with the divorce told PEOPLE that Jolie is trying to make sure the children do not suffer the consequences of her separation from Pitt.
Angelina remains focused on healing her family. She continues to support the reconciliation of the children with Brad.

In June, a judge ordered scheduled visitation time for Pitt and the children, all except Maddox who is old enough to decide whether he wants to spend time with Pitt or not. With the new move by Jolie, it is likely that the former couple may find a middle ground, for the sake of the children.
