When Daniel Emmet finally had his chance to wow the judges on "America’s Got Talent," he had no idea what fate had in store for him. The Rochester, New York native performed a classical piece that left the audience applauding, but Simon Cowell was not so impressed.
Simon Cowell gave me a heart attack, then the challenge of a lifetime, and the most beautiful song I've ever sang! #impossiblechallenge #AGT
Cowell gave Emmet an impossible task, to learn a song he had never heard in his life in just one hour, come back on stage and try the audition again. Members of the audience did not believe their ears when they heard it. However, Emmet did as asked, and eventually, got a rousing ovation.
Most fans of the show have mixed feelings about Cowell who has a knack for coming down hard on contestants, but occasionally, he tends to show a softer side. Cowell was quite impressed when 13-year-old Jeffrey Li took the stage, he promised to get the boy a puppy.
Before the audition began, the Chinese-Canadian teenager revealed that he loved dogs. Who would have thought that stern Cowell would turn to putty after hearing him sing “You Raise Me Up”?
Fans of the show, however, have mixed feeling about Emmet’s performance. While a lot of them think he is a terrific singer, others feel the act was staged.
Whatever the case may be, Emmet did a good job on the show and fans are hoping to see more surprising performances, maybe even one from Cowell someday.
