On June 5, the world was devastated by the news of famous designer Kate Spade taking her own life.
The 55-year-old designer was found by her housekeeper and left a note behind to her teenage daughter.
Kate's death was a complete shock to her husband Andy Spade, who was a co-founder of her name brand. He said in a statement:
My daughter and I are devastated by her loss, and can’t even begin to fathom life without her. We are deeply heartbroken and miss her already.
Kate Spade will be finally laid to rest on June 21 in her hometown of Kansas City. The funeral will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church.
In honor of Kate, who was an active animal rights protector, her family is asking the public to donate to ASPCA or to Wayside Waifs, which are Kansas City's largest animal shelter.
David Spade, the late designer's brother-in-law, made a generous donation of 100,000 dollars to the suicide prevention organization.
Kate's family feels the importance of spreading awareness and working towards helping people who suffer from depression.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Spade family during this challenging time.
