Katherine Heigl Had To Apologize After Being Criticized For Posting "Inappropriate" Photos Of Herself At Cemetery

Every moment is worth capturing in Katherine's opinion, so she does exactly that (and the results are often adorable).

There are, however, some photos that shouldn't be shared, but unfortunately, the actress didn't realize it in time.

Social media frenzy

Recently, Katherine Heigl posted a series of photos of her family during their visit to the Buffalo cemetery, where some of her relatives' headstones are located.

39-year-old Grey's Anatomy star received major backlash for her inappropriate behavior and for sharing the snaps.

In now deleted pictures, Heigl was seen posing with statues and headstones. Some photos were goofy. In addition, her husband posed with a grave that had the same name as his, which Heigl captioned “[He] found his own grave…which was weird.”

Heigl realized that her actions were hurting some people and removed the posts. She offered her sincere apologies in a series of videos:

It’s kind of a heavy thing to go and visit my loved ones’ graves, and I decided to find some moments of levity and humor and didn’t realize how inappropriate I was being. I deeply apologize and I thank you guys for understanding that sometimes I don’t think things through clearly enough and I am grateful for your input and for giving me a heads up when I’m maybe going too far. And thank you for forgiving me. Next time I will be more thoughtful about other people’s feelings and not just my own.

Wrongly accused?

Despite Katherine being attacked for posting the notorious photos, many of her followers and fans supported the actress by saying she did nothing wrong and shouldn't be apologizing.

Here are some of the comments from Heigl's followers on her Instagram apology videos.

You do not have to apologize and should put whatever you want in your Instagram. People today are very boring and complain about everything!

I love you so much and you always inspire me. Thank you so much for always being so kind hearted and caring. These words mean so much to me and so many other people. you are truly a wonderful and amazing person.

People can negative sometimes but you do you. So many people (including me) are here for you and have your back.

It's sad that you have to apologize. It's your life, your insta. You do you!!!! I honestly didn't feel it was inappropriate. people are always so negative. Love you and so sorry for your loss.

What do you think about the situation? Was Heigl's behavior offensive?
