It's bittersweet to see the royal couple leave, but they've done an amazing job during this royal tour and we're all grateful for having the opportunity to follow their adventures.
Very beautiful . The people , music and all the images were just full of joy— mimigirl (@rafegirl) October 26, 2018
However, Harry and Meghan's departure wasn't all smooth. The couple's plane had an emergency upon landing in Sydney, and we have all the details.
The plane carrying royals couldn't land in Sydney due to what's known as a missed approach, as reported by royal correspondents on Twitter. The pilot had to circle the airport because there was a danger of landing too close to another missile due to the runway not being cleared.
Minor drama as our @Qantas charter plane - also carrying Harry and Meghan - had to pull up seconds from landing in Sydney because of another aircraft on the runway. Pilot said we were too close. What’s known as a missed approach. We had to circle and try again ✈️ pic.twitter.com/Wa5O6TI0a1— Rebecca English (@RE_DailyMail) October 26, 2018
Captain Nigel Rosser said: ‘There was an aircraft on the runway that was a little bit slow to roll, unfortunately hadn’t cleared the runway. We were too close, so the decision was made to abort the landing. It was what we call a missed approach .’ pic.twitter.com/mo2eHdM6zs— Rebecca English (@RE_DailyMail) October 26, 2018
Captain Nigel Rosser and co-pilot Ann Cole navigated the situation perfectly and landed Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as well as other passengers on board, safely in Sydney.
The pilot on Harry and Meghan’s (and our) plane just had to abort the landing in Sydney seconds from wheels down because of another plane on the runway.. Superb safe second attempt by @qantas Captain Nigel Rosser. 💪🏼👏🏼👍🏼! #RoyalVisitAustralia— Emily Nash (@emynash) October 26, 2018
