Is It Easy To Be A Royal? Curious Protocol Rules Meghan Markle Has To Follow Now When She Is A Duchess

Date May 24, 2018

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle finally tied the knot in a beautiful wedding ceremony and now, the newlyweds are officially the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Probably every girl dreams to be on Meghan’s place and to find her prince charming. But being a member of the royal family is not as easy as people may think. Life of a royal is not just balls, public engagements, and teas with the Queen. It is full of duties and strict rules, which every member of the royal family has to follow.

Meghan Markle will also follow all these restrictions now when she is a duchess. Here are some of the most significant etiquette rules for royal women that should not be crossed under no circumstances.

1. No social media

Members of the royal family are not allowed to have their own social media accounts. Instead, they have their personal pages on the family’s official website.

2. No selfies and autographs

This restriction must be especially problematic for the former actress Meghan Markle. Well, it seems like her Suits fans will have to forget about having an autograph from the Duchess.

3. No miniskirts

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth completely disapproves miniskirts trend among the ladies of the royal family. So, it is highly suggested for Meghan to cover up her legs during public engagements.

4. Pantyhose are highly required

Wearing pantyhose is a rule all female members of the royal family follow. But it seems Meghan will have no problems here. For her first royal appearance with Prince Harry, Meghan was seen wearing pantyhose underneath her gorgeous nude gown. The newlyweds attended a garden party to celebrate Prince Charles’ 70th birthday anniversary.

5. No dark manicure

According to the royal etiquette, women are prohibited from wearing dark and colored nail polish. It’s mauve tone, ladies!

6. Speaking of shoes

Women in the royal family don’t wear wedge shoes around the Queen.

7. Don’t forget to curtsy

Even during informal occasions, all royal ladies have to curtsy to Her Majesty when she enters the room. So, it’s better for Meghan to learn some new skills.

8. And the most important one…

There is a strict protocol for how to enter a room for the royals. Here is the right order: Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camila, Prince William and Kate Middleton, and then, most likely, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

In fact, there are much more rules of the royal etiquette, but these are the most bizarre, in our opinion. We hope Meghan Markle is a quick learner and she will easily handle the royal protocol. We wish the Duchess good luck in this difficult task.
