Sara Gilbert Is Looking Forward To The 'Roseanne' Spinoff Without Roseanne Barr: "I Am So Excited"

Date June 26, 2018

As it was announced last week, Roseanne spinoff returns on TV this fall but without its main character, Roseanne Barr. Despite the fact that numerous fans do not really like the idea of watching the show without Mrs. Barr, her co-star Sara Gilbert has no problems here.

Sara Gilbert comments on ‘Roseanne’ spinoff

One month ago, ABC canceled Roseanne after the scandal with Mrs. Barr and her racist tweet. The news appeared to be a real shock for the whole cast and numerous fans of the famous sitcom.

But early last week, the studio announced another big news. Roseanne spinoff is in the works and will come to the screens this fall. However, there is one condition. The executive producer, Tom Werner, explained that the network gave the green light to return the show only if Roseanne Barr will leave the series.

Most of the cast, including John Goodman and Sara Gilbert, have already agreed to reprise their iconic roles in the show's spinoff.

Sara Gilbert even said she is looking forward to starting work on the new episodes. As a guest star on Monday’s The Talk, Gilbert responded to the congratulations on the spinoff news:

I’m so excited, thank you all so much. I really appreciate it.

By the way, Gilbert was among the first co-stars who expressed their outrage about Roseanne’s offensive tweet.

‘The Conners’

According to ABC, The Conners (the working title of the spinoff) will have 10 episodes. In their statement, the studio announced:

The spinoff will continue to portray contemporary issues that are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago.
