To this day, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson remain the ultimate royal couple we still can't let go. Despite their divorce and current single status, we can't shake off the feeling that their love is still pretty much alive and well. They seem very friendly, almost flirty, with each other and now we've discovered one moment from the royal wedding that makes us adore the couple even more.
What went wrong
Their union began in 1986, which was quickly followed by births of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie in 1988 and 1990 respectively. However, by the time Duke and Duchess of York became parents, their relationship had already begun to decay.
Instead of spending most of their time together at the beginning of their married life, Prince Andrew was often absent from home while tending to his naval officer responsibilities. Ferguson felt lonely and so many rumors of her affair started to resurface at the beginning of the 1990s.
No one can deny that Andrew and Sarah loved each other, but the distance was the real reason they couldn't stay together. As Ferguson revealed during an interview with Ernie Manouse:
What I got was not the man, I got the palace, and didn't get him...And I saw him for the first 5 years of our marriage 40 days a year.
Today, we firmly believe the Duke and Duchess of York still have feelings for each other, so we keep looking for sweet moments between the couple. We look closely at their public appearances together and even go as far as their wedding day for some portion of cuteness.
Cheeky moment during the wedding
For anyone who's curious about the dynamic of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's relationship, we've found a very interesting moment from the couple's wedding in 1986.
In the middle of saying her vows, Sarah did something unusual at the moment she was vowing to obey her future husband.
Some spectators noticed her slightly turning to Andrew and winking at him while saying the word 'obey'. And before you start thinking that people are making it up because everyone has access to their wedding video today, this moment was actually reported by LA Times back in 1986 right after the wedding.
You can catch the moment around the 3:30 mark.
The reason Sarah might've winked at Andrew during her vows is that the inclusion of promising to obey the husband is absolutely outdated nowadays and was also frowned upon by Princess Diana herself. Although Ferguson agreed to take the old-fashioned version of her wedding vows, she was making it clear that she plans to obey no one.
Perhaps, Andrew and Sarah discussed it beforehand and agreed to make a little inside joke of the old tradition.
Whatever that moment was, we definitely enjoy their cheeky chemistry and hope to see more of it.
