According to the research of the Knot's 2017 Real Weddings Study, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding costed around $45 million.
The Queen and the royal family are very important for the British culture. Nevertheless, the amount of money they spend every year often becomes a topic of discussions.
The royal family is funded by various sources. Some of them are private, others come from the taxpayers.
The amount can vary. For example, last year, the Queen got £6 million ($7,948,650) pay increase as a result of performance from the Crown Estates, one of the sources of funding.
The biggest part comes from Crown Estates – £13.3 billion ($15.03 billion) worth portfolio of properties. Crown Estates can’t be sold by the royal family members, and funds go to the treasury.
After that, a part of money from the treasury goes to the Queen. In 2018, this amount was 23%.
The last report of the Queen’s expenditure was made in 2017. Reportedly, £42 million ($47.46 million) were spent in 2016.
So, the royal family is rather expensive. Do you think it is too much?
