Help from Jack and Rose

Gemma Nuttall found out about her disease, the aggressive ovarian cancer, during the first pre-natal scan. Nevertheless, she refused life-saving drugs, because she didn’t want to terminate her pregnancy.

The woman gave birth to the healthy baby girl, Penelope, and thought her life will be happy ever since. But unfortunately, doctors said they could do no more to save her, and gave six-to-12 months to live.

But Gemma decided not keep fighting and started fundraising for immunotherapy at a German 'wonder clinic'.

Kate Winslet heard about it and couldn’t ignore the situation. That’s when Hollywood stars decided to save woman’s life.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet auctioned off three 'Jack and Rose' date nights – named after the sweethearts they played in Titanic. Their goal was to help fund the £300,000 treatment.

As reported by The Mirror, Gemma was very thankful:

I can’t thank Kate enough. Without her donations, and the public’s, my story would be very different. We thought it was a wind-up, but then she called and I realised she was serious.

Gemma had the chance to finish the last round of treatment in Germany and was eventually announced cancer-free.

Unfortunately, it was later reported that Gemma passed away.
