Losing Rene

Rene passed in 2016, after a brave battle with throat cancer just days before his 74th birthday. He and Dion were married for 22 years – his longest marriage.

Before the former singer turned manager took on a teenage Celine Dion and turned her into the icon the world fell in love with, he'd been married twice. Their romantic relationship did not begin until she was 20, and he was 46.

While the models walked, Dion was captured on camera wiping tears away discretely as a song dear to her and Rene played in the background, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by Roberta Flack.

It was their wedding song from 1994. The video was shared on Twitter and in response, fans who knew why she was crying got emotional. Awww.

In 2004, a decade after she and Rene danced to the song as they said their 'I do's, Dion recorded it as part of her album, Miracle. Watch her perform it in the video above.
