Patrick Swayze's wife Lisa Niemi has one lingering regret about her marriage to the actor, who died after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer in 2009.

Brave fight

When Barbara Walters interviewed the Dirty Dancing legend in the same year he lost his fight with cancer, he told her he was going through hell.

It was his first interview since the diagnosis. Swayze had just taken up a lead role in a new television series. He admitted that he was scared and angry, but told Walters that he'd never been one to back down from a challenge.

Lisa regrets not saying 'I Love You'

About his wife of 34 years, the romantic comedy icon said he had no greater respect for any other human on earth like he had for her. The two met when she walked into his mom's dance studio. He was 20, and she was 16. They became inseparable.

After his death, a heartbroken Lisa spoke at a roundtable about losing the love of her life. Lisa said she did not tell her husband she loved him enough during their 34 years together and she regrets that.

In the last months of his life, she tried to make up for it by saying 'I Love You' multiple times daily, but she'd run out of time.

I've spent two-thirds of my life with him ... My regret is that I didn't tell him that I loved him enough over that entire 34 years.

She's moved on

In 2014, Lisa found love again. She told People that her love for Swayze was not threatened by what she and jeweler Albert DePrisco shared until he asked her to marry him.
