Michelle Williams Reveals She's Recently Sought Help From Mental Health Doctors In An Empowering Instagram Post

Singer Michelle Williams has long been open about her struggle with mental health but now, it's just been revealed that she's recently checked into a mental health facility.

The news reported by TMZ was not confirmed by the Destiny's Child member and gospel singer. But, in a post on Tuesday, Williams acknowledged that she had recently proudly sought the help of professionals.

She said in her empowering post that she made a decision to get help after years of mental health advocacy because she realized it was time to listen to her own advice.

Battle with depression

In 2017, Williams told the hosts of The Talk that she had dealt with bouts of depression during her active years with Destiny's Child.

According to the 37-year-old who got engaged to Chad Johnson in March, her mental health issues got so bad in 2013 that she began to consider suicide.

She's surrounded by great people

This bold decision to share her experience has since been lauded on social media by everyone from Missy Elliot to Solange Knowles.

Williams' biggest supporter though remains her beau, Chad, who told PEOPLE in April why he'll not be causing his fiancee any pain in the distant future. He has a healthy respect for the bey-have, Beyonce's superfans, that's why!
