The couple met in 2001, when they were students at the University of St. Andrews. They started out as friends, and their friendship blossomed into romance in 2003.

In this picture, taken at their graduation in 2005, the couple looks perfectly happy.

Body language expert Blanca Cobb broke it down for us. She told Cosmopolitan about this photo:

Putting your hand on someone's stomach is more intimate than placing it on the shoulder or back. Although it's unclear whether William is trying to hold Kate's hand there or move it away, there's no curvature to his fingers, which means there's no tension. He's most likely holding Kate's hand in place – a sign of mutual comfort.

So, the hand placement signals that they are at ease with each other. We knew it!

One of the best ways to process a sad event in your life is travelling to a nice place in a good company, which is exactly what Kate Middleton did! A few weeks after the break-up, she was spotted in Dublin in the company of her mother Carole.

The Irish Times reported at the time that the mother and daughter attended a family friend’s art exhibition at the Urban Retreat Gallery. The paper referred to Kate as “the woman who might be the next queen of England”, as the news about the split hadn’t broken yet. Anyway, the couple broke up to make up, and the time spent apart proved therapeutic.

When asked about the break-up during an interview with ODN back in 2010, the future Duchess said:

I think at the time I wasn’t very happy about it, but, actually, it made me a stronger person. You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn’t realized. Or, I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you’re younger and, you know, I really valued that time.

It's evident that he's an active father and totally present with his children in this moment. He divides (and conquers) his attention between George and Charlotte, while still keeping Kate and his newborn nearby.
