Not many fans of comedy know this, but Jim Carrey is actually a proud father. The actor and comedian has one child from his first marriage to former actress Melissa Womer. Jane Erin Carrey was born in September 1987, and 8 years later her parents got divorced.
Jane followed in her parents’ footsteps and became allured by the bright lights of showbiz. Throughout her career, she was a contestant on a singing competition American Idol and also appeared on Catfish: The TV Show. In 2017, she participated in the documentary about her father, Jim Carrey: I Needed Color.
The 31-year-old married Alex Santana in 2009 and made Carrey a granddad for the very first time a year later.
The funniest granddad
When Jim Carrey turned 47, he got the chance to learn a new role, one he had never played before. The comedian’s daughter gave birth to an adorable baby boy, making Carrey a grandfather.
Jane and her husband welcomed a son, Jackson Riley Santana, who is the couple’s first child. The Dumb and Dumber star couldn’t hold back his emotions as he took to his personal Twitter account to let the world now the happy news. He wrote:
Jackson Riley Santana, My Grandson, Born today! This is what 7lbs.11oz. of Calfornia dynamite looks like!
During her pregnancy, Carry commented that she is very glad she has a son because she never got along with girls when she was growing up.
I was a little afraid that if it was a girl that she would not like me, you know? So I’m very happy about the boy.
But her famous father was certain from the very beginning that Jane would make a good parent as he said that she will be 'a great mom.' In an interview, Carrey revealed that being grandad is a 'wonderful thing', but he jokingly added that he is concerned it’s going to make him look old.
We have no doubts that no one would call Jim Carrey old because he has so much youthful energy. Having a grandson only adds more coolness to his persona. What do you think?
