Harry And Meghan Are Spending Their First Engagement Anniversary Separately. But Why?

The engagement news comes a year after the couple officially confirmed that they are together. They started dating in July 2016, after a memorable blind date the two was set up for by a mysterious mutual friend.

Royal duty is above everything

The reason why Meghan and Harry are not together on that special day is simply that the 34-year-old was sent away for an important royal duty.

Prince Charles’ youngest son traveled to Zambia at the request of the Foreign Office to spend a few days there, filled with many engagements. On Monday, Harry landed in Lusaka where he was greeted by an adorable by 9-year-old Jane Chawanangwa, dressed in white and looking like a little princess.

Later the royal met with Zambian veterans at Burma Barracks and visited Circus Zambia, a partner of The Queen's Commonwealth Trust, where he made an inspiring speech, talking about the work the Trust has done in supporting young people across the Commonwealth.
