Susan Sarandon Explains Why She Never Married Tim Robbins With Whom She Had 23-Year Relationship
A 1988 romantic comedy Bull Durham not only made Susan Sarandon more famous but it also changed the course of her love life. On the set of the film, she met Tim Robbins, who was 12 years older than her, and the two fell madly in love.
The couple was admired by many for their long-standing romance that survived the constant attention from the press and defied the age difference.
However, despite living together for 23 years, Sarandon and Robbins never married and the actress has a solid reason for that.
Why they never tied the knot?
According to Sarandon, she never considered marrying Robbins. She felt like this institution would have made them stop appreciating each other.
I thought that if you didn't get married you wouldn't take each other for granted as easily. I don't know if after twentysomething years that was still true.
But her tactic didn’t work as the couple split up in 2009. It was shocking news for everyone, including the red-headed star herself.
I didn't think it would ever happen. You bring people into your life at certain times. Maybe you have a relationship to have children and you realize that it's fulfilled after that point.
But there was something good that came out of their relationship. Susan gave birth to Tim’s two sons, Miles and Jack.
Both of them followed their parents’ path to show business. Jack, who is the oldest, has become a director and editor. His best works include 2017’s Hot Winter: A Film by Dick Pierre and 2016’s Opening Night.
Miles chose a career of actor and a musician. He has appeared in many films and TV shows, including The X-Files, Mozart in the Jungle, and Blockers. Currently, he plays in a psychedelic pop band called the Pow Pow Family Band.
