The royal family is known for the strict rules dictated by the royal protocol that they must follow. This means no selfies and no hugs with fans. However, Prince Harry is known to show his rebellious side and omit the rules, especially when the reason for it is so special. During his royal tour to Australia, the British prince showed his kind heart as he gave a hug to 19-year-old India Brown, who has been his fan since she was 8 years old.

The young lady has followed Harry around the world and broke down in tears when saw him face-to-face. No wonder the Prince felt like he needed to offer her a comforting hug. But it wasn’t the first time when his emotions took over the royal protocol.

A touching story

Moments after Prince Harry made a historic move – helped to raise Invictus Games flag on the top of Sydney Harbour Bridge, the royal was overwhelmed with emotions when he broke the protocol again to comfort a serviceman’s widow, who joined him on the climb.

Prince Harry and 41-year-old Gwen Cherne shared a conversation, which deeply touched the royal. Cherne recalls how sympathetic the Duke of Sussex was when he listened to her tragic story. The woman’s late husband, Australian special forces officer Peter J. Cafe, took his own life in February 2017 when he was 48 years old.

The prince knows well about grief and loss as he lost his mother, Princess Diana when he was just a child. The pair discussed mental health and how it’s still not easy for our society to talk about such issues. Gwen, who is mom-of-three, added:

The fact that he and Meghan are shining their light on the Invictus Games, highlighting for so many people the service and sacrifices the serving members and their families – and highlighting the families – gives people hope.

Another royal break
