Dennis Quaid: a candid interview

It’s not so easy to reveal your dark secrets of the past. Dennis Quaid knows this for sure.

Dennis is a talented actor, who made his breakthrough in Hollywood after his iconic role in Breaking Away. Then, there was a sequence of other successful movies featuring the handsome actor: Innerspace, Great Balls of Fire!, and The Parent Trap.

But despite his successful career, there was a time in the actor’s life when he struggled with personal troubles and drug addiction.

During the interview, Quaid opens up:

I saw myself either dead or losing everything that meant anything to me.

How Meg Ryan helped Dennis overcome his addiction

Dennis explained that taking drugs was “a pretty common thing" in the 1980s. Probably, that’s why he thought there was nothing huge about that. He says:

There was a completely different attitude to all this kind of stuff at that time.

Quaid went to rehab in 1990, when he got engaged to Meg Ryan. It was Meg who inspired the actor to quit his bad habit and ask for professional help.

Despite the fact that the couple got divorced in 2000, Dennis still calls their marriage “the most successful relationship" of his life.

Today, Quaid is totally ‘clean’ and is completely happy with his girlfriend, Santa Auzina.

We all have dark times, but the most important thing is to learn from any failure. Remember, there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
