54-year-old first son of John Lennon dispels his father’s perpetuated way of life. Even though the philosophy of the Beatles member might have promoted peace and love, Julian states that he paid very little attention to the ones who indeed required his feelings.
At the certain point in his life, John started to feel the inner emptiness, the overwhelming void inside, which caused him resort to a psychiatrist. Viktor E. Frankl has worked with Lennon for quite a long time and concluded that it is significant for the celebrity to fill that space with something meaningful, something which he might have been feeling responsible for.
John tried to find the answers in a few sacred books that have eventually shown him the way: East: the Bhagavad Gita, The Tibetan Book of the Dead, and, of course, the Holy Bible. He didn’t resort to the conventional religion, but rather created his own, focusing on the existentialism which was appealing to him – All You Need Is Love. And the society has remembered him precisely like this.
The only problem is that John wasn’t the one how the public perceived him. According to his elder son, Julian, the father was a hypocrite. For others, he promoted what they wanted to hear, while at home he was a completely different person:
Dad could talk about peace and love out loud to the world, but he could never show it to the people who supposedly meant the most to him: his wife and son.
Actually, Julian claims that his father knew nothing about being a dad. He left the family when his son was only five and since then, he paid very little attention to the growing child.
How can you talk about peace and love and have a family in bits and pieces - no communication. You can't do it, not if you're being true and honest with yourself.
Lennon was quite a controversial person. He has admitted by himself that he harmed his first wife to keep her apart from the things she loved. He simply couldn’t express himself differently. He wanted something – he fought for it. His mental abuse of the son and physical towards Cynthia make an image of a person who couldn't find himself.
This only proves the fact that not all talented people know how to manage their real life in a proper way.
