Two key members of the royal family were missing from the 2018 opening day of the Royal Ascot, and this has raised everyone's brow!
Today Her Majesty was joined by The Princes of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, The Duke of York, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal & Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. pic.twitter.com/rA2LRnSl94— The Royal Family (@RoyalFamily) June 19, 2018
The yearly horse racing event was graced by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who were a no-show just days ago at the Order of the Garter ceremony.
Like Harry and Meghan, the Queen was all cheery in yellow. She looked pleased to have her children Princess Anne and Prince Andrew beside her. Prince Charles and Camilla were present too.
William and Kate missing
But, there were no sightings of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Kate Middleton has been a highly anticipated presence at the Royal Ascot for a few years now, especially for her fashion.
Although, their absence was greatly felt, they were away for good reasons. William had to make an unavoidable appearance in Liverpool at the International Business Festival, which he presides over as official patron.
Kate Middleton, on her part, is still on maternity leave following the birth of her third, Prince Louis, in April.
She's on break for now
This may not make much sense given that Middleton was at Prince Harry's wedding in May and Trooping the Colour in early June.
But, given that she is entitled to a six-month break before coming back to the public eye, it is likely that she will not be out in an official capacity until October.
