Still, for a family man like Michael, it is very important to get an approval from one of the most important people in his life – his dad, Gene Willie Strahan. Strahan had had a successful 15-year career in American football, playing for the New York Giants of the National Football League.

One of the hardest moments in his life was telling his dad that he wants to leave football – the career Gene prompted Strahan to have.

In one of his interviews, Michael admitted he did football because his father told him he could do it, and he wanted to make him proud. When calling Gene to say about a life-changing decision to retire, Michael thought he would put up some resistance to it, but how wrong he was!

His dad said:

You don’t have to say anything else. I think you should. You prove it.

After hearing those words, Michael felt like he was going to cry. His dream came true – he made his dad proud!

There is no surprise Michael is such a good father himself. As we can see, his own dad gave him a great example of parenting.

Strahan declared his love to his dad many times because without Gene, the world would not have a pleasure to know Michael.
