15 couples married at Windsor
The first couple that married at Windsor Castle was Prince of Wales and Princess Alexandra of Denmark on March 10, 1863. Ever since it has become the most respectable place for such events. As a reminder, at that time, most of the marriages weren’t based on love but to form political alliances.
On July 18, 1992, Lady Helen Windsor and Timothy Taylor renewed the tradition to marry at the castle. The Earl and Countess of Wessex also married there on June 19, 1999. The next were The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on April 9, 2005.
The latest couple married at Windsor Castle is Peter Philips and Autumn Kelly on May 17, 2008.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will become the 16th couple to marry at Windsor Castle. Also, did you notice that the spring was the most favorable time for weddings?
Prince William and Kate Middleton chose another place
Of course, we cannot see Prince William and Kate Middleton on this list. The couple married on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey in London. The two had been dating for eight years before they decided to tie the knot.
Not much time is left to wait for this year’s most anticipated royal event. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s ceremony will take place on May 19, 2018. Stay tuned!
