The role of the Queen and her husband is considered equivalent to some extent. The public anticipates seeing them together to cherish their dutiful rulers. But this year, only the British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II herself, was seen on Christmas Day. Everybody missed Prince Philip by her side.

Her Majesty arrived solo at St. Mary Magdalene in Sandringham for the traditional Christmas morning service. The rest of the Royal Family also joined her. Then the festivities began!

Then around 3 pm, she broadcasted to her nation a heartfelt Christmas message, in which she emphasized unity. The Queen reminded people about maintaining peace on Earth because it is needed more than ever. Take note, folks!

Why was the Duke of Edinburgh absent from the Christmas Service?

Fans noticed their favorite personality was missing from the Royal Family's annual Christmas walk up to St. Mary Magdalene's church in Sandringham. It became apparent that Prince Philip would also be skipping church services when Her Majesty arrived on her own. But, not to worry! The reason behind his absence is not alarming.

According to Mirror UK, there aren't any health concerns holding him back. A palace spokesperson stated that the 97-year-old Duke is in good health and will be spending the day privately with his family. He has been retired from royal duties since August of 2017 and is only following that up. Quite understandable, right?

Prince Philip also missed Easter service

The Queen's consort was also absent from Easter Service this year. The reason behind it made fans worry for him. According to palace officials, Prince Philip missed it because of a hip problem. However, it was declared not to be a big deal as surgery fixed it right up. And we know, it all turned out well.
