On the evening of Sunday, February 4, Kristoff's friend came to check on him at his Woodland Hills house in Los Angeles, California. There, he was found lifeless. Paramedics present on the scene later pronounced him dead. Reportedly, the cause of his demise was alcohol overdose. The 52-year-old father John was already grief-stricken of his son's passing, who had taken his own life in 2014.

The final goodbye
Kristoff was currently playing the character of Neil Winters on CBS-TV's megahit series The Young and the Restless for the past 25 years. He had starred in the soap opera since 1991, which is a great achievement on its own. The show officially aired Kristoff St. John‘s final episode to let him shine one last time.
The late actor's final TV appearance happened only 3 days after he expired. The plot roamed around his role's adoptive son. The character Devon was seen planning an event that Neil attended. When the entertainment for the event does not show up, St. John’s character saves the day. The episode ended with an exclusive tribute to Kristoff.
