Is This The End? Eileen Davidson Says Farewell To "The Young And Restless” Again After 30 Years

“The Young and the Restless” is one of the longest-running television dramas in America, dating back to 1973. Set in the fictional town in Wisconsin called Genoa City, it tells the story of two families, the Brooks and the Fosters.

As several actors left the show, creators William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell made major changes and introduced two new families, the Abbotts and the Williamses. Several other families have been in play over the years but storyline involving Jill Abbott and Katherine Chancellor has been constant till date.

Eileen Davidson played the role of Ashley Abbot between 1982 and 1988. After a 10-year-break, she returned to the series in 1999 and picked up her old role. She earned herself a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in 2003 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Now she says goodbye

After 30 years on the hit show, Davidson is saying her final farewell and it could not have come at a better time. In 2014 she won the Outstanding Lead Actress award at the Emmy’s and repeated the feat at this year’s event, bringing her win tally to two for the same show.

She tweeted this message to fans in June announcing that she would walk away and sounded quite enthusiastic about her departure. The actress noted that she planned on taking more time for herself as her schedule would free up.

The actress has appeared in over 1,500 episodes of the show which hit 11,000 episodes by this time in 2016. Fans are not so excited to see her leave but still wish her the best in her future exploits.

Davidson joined the cast of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” She also appeared in “The Bold and the Beautiful” still as Ashley Abbot between 2007 and 2008. We wish her all the best as she moves on.
