Why not princesses?

Though Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are called princesses by fans, many people are quite bothered that both Duchesses are not given that title.

CNN royal historian, Victoria Arbiter on The Royal Box explained that Camilla Parker Bowles could be one of the reasons why Kate and Meghan are not given the title princesses after marrying princes.

In legal terms, Camilla is actually the Princess of Wales. But in 2005, she took the title of the Duchess of Cornwall when she married Prince Charles.

The decision was reportedly out of respect to late Princess Diana.

Meghan or Kate?

While everyone was excited when Prince William announced his engagement to Kate Middleton, his stepmother, Camilla Parker Bowles wasn’t happy about his choice.

However, the Duchess was thrilled over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement. She even took an immediate liking to Meghan.

There’s a possibility that Camilla and Kate’s relationship started on the wrong foot, and never got to evolve. If that’s the case, it seems Camilla learned her lesson and didn’t allow the same thing to happen with Meghan.

How did she treat Meghan?

From the beginning, the Duchess of Cornwall was warm towards Meghan, and as a result of this, she seems to have a better relationship with her than with Kate.

Right after her wedding, inside sources claim Meghan got on quite well with her father-in-law and his wife.

Though a few public engagements were rather unusual, the Duchess of Sussex appears to have blended well into the family.

Kate was the star at a reception for her father-in-law, Prince Charles. She looked like an integral part of the family, while Meghan was on the side lines.

However, the interaction of Meghan and the Duchess of Cornwall during a service was a significant moment in royal family dynamics. When Camilla and Prince Charles arrived at the Commonwealth Day service, Camilla’s greeting with Kate was warm and short, but she gave Meghan a kiss and a hug.
