Kate Middleton Was The First Royal To Break The Same Rule Meghan Was Slammed For, But Nobody Noticed It

The Duchess of Sussex has earned herself a fame of the rebel since her engagement announcement to Prince Harry. She angered many royal watchers by breaking one protocol rule after another. The last time social media was not happy about Meghan was during the British Fashion Awards 2018.
Prince Harry's pregnant wife made a surprise appearance, wearing a gorgeous black gown. But all the attention was on her nails, which were painted – God forbid – in a dark color! But as it turns out, she wasn’t the first royal woman, who omitted this strict rule.
The Duchess of Cambridge was the first one, who appeared on public wearing dark nail polish. But nobody noticed it because it was not actually on her hands.
In 2012, Kate stepped out for a concert at Royal Albert Hall wearing a stunning teal gown. Yes, her fingers were natural, however, her toes were painted with a dark nail polish.
Later, she repeated her daring pedicure as she dazzled in an elegant white dress and a pair of open-toe heels which showed off her bold red toenails.
It seems that she balances everything out and makes her look less ‘proper’ by wearing a nude nail polish on her fingers and the dark one on her toes.
Another broken rule
Avoiding royal protocol doesn’t always have a negative reaction from the public. Back in September, Meghan attended her first solo royal engagement as she arrived to open 'Oceania' at the Royal Academy of Arts.
The mom-to-be did something that royals very rarely do – closed her own car door and was praised for it by social media. By the by, Kate did the same thing on her engagement later. So it looks like the royal ladies don’t always have to follow the protocol, which, come to think of it, allows them to show their true personality.
