The world mourns a loss of another talented soul. The Canadian actor Peter Donat, famously known for his role in "The X-Files," died at 90 years old.
Who was Peter Donat?
Peter Donat, born Pierre Collingwood Donat, had always been surrounded by cinema’s lights as he comes from a family drawn to acting. His uncle was British actor Robert Donat and his younger brother, Richard Donat, is an actor, too.
In 1950 Peter immigrated to the US where he studied drama at Yale University. This was the time when he started making his name as a stage actor. Despite many successful TV appearances, including guest roles in “The F.B.I.,” ''Hill Street Blues," “The X-Files,” and Francis Ford Coppola’s "The Godfather Part II,” he preferred theatrical work.
He often graced the stage, performing with companies like American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and the Stratford Festival in Canada. His last work was a part in TV series titled “Murder, She Wrote: The Celtic Riddle,” which were turned into feature-length specials. The last TV movie was aired in 2003.
Donat passed away on Monday at his home in Point Reyes Station, Californian. His wife, Maria, said to The Times that the cause was complications of diabetes.
