When Tom met his first wife, an actress and model Jacqueline Ray, he thought she was the only woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

Soon, the lovebirds got married. Selleck adopted Ray’s son from her previous marriage. A big and happy family, that’s how everyone saw them together. But only the closest friends knew there were ‘troubles in heaven'.

How ‘Magnum, P.I.’ ruined Selleck’s marriage

When a then-amateur actor, Tom Selleck, received his iconic role in Magnum, P.I, he couldn’t even imagine what impact it would have on his family life.

Selleck had to move to Hawaii to film in the series. The handsome actor was always in a center of female attention of Hawaiian beauties. It was difficult for Jacqueline to accept such a lifestyle without seeing her husband for months.

A friend, close to the family, revealed:

Soon after seeing them, she filed for divorce, telling pals she couldn’t stand the pain of seeing Tom have a good time with other women.

It was heartbreaking for Tom to accept the thought that his marriage failed. The actor confessed:

The bust-up was the worst thing that ever happened to me. I thought I’d be married for always.

New love

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger! After the painful divorce, Tom found a new love. In 1987, he met Jillie Mack. The couple is still married.
