The legendary songwriter

The band itself is massively popular and is even believed to be the most influential group in music history. While he was a member of The Beatles, Sir Paul wrote or co-wrote up to 32 hit songs that have made it to the top of Billboard charts.

In fact, he also formed a songwriting partnership with John Lennon which has been reported to be the most successful in history.

Forgetting his music

In his career, Sir Paul McCartney has written hundreds of songs and as a result, it can be difficult to remember some of the lyrics.

The Beatles legend confessed to Mirror that he sometimes had to be reminded how to play some of the songs he wrote with his rock band because there were just so many of them.

The 77-year-old musical icon said that during rehearsals sometimes, he had to rely on his bandmates to jog his memory or he might even listen to old recordings to recall song lyrics.

I have to re-learn everything. I’ve written an awful lot, you can’t retain them all. We go in rehearsal and I’m, ‘Oh yeah, that’s how it goes’.

It's totally understandable that Sir Paul might struggle considering that some of the group's hits are about 55 years old and he has worked on over a thousand tunes which were released.

A successful rock band

It has been reported that the English rock band recorded hundreds of songs in their heydays. Between 1962 and 1970, their 'main catalog' contains 213 songs. And even after the band broke up, over 100 more songs were officially released. In addition, they still had several songs that were unreleased.

As for songwriting, every band member contributed to creating their music but the primary songwriting was brought on by a partnership between John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

With so many hits and music overall, we can't blame Sir Paul McCartney for needing to be reminded from time to time.
