Their love story

The former first couple met at the law firm Sidley Austin LLP in 1989 when Michelle was assigned as his mentor. The fact that she was above him didn't stop Barack from asking her out a month after he resumed.

At first, she said no, but after much persuasion agreed to go on a date with him. Two years after that they got engaged, and they tied the knot in October 1992.

Describing their first date, Michelle said:

"He showed all the sides - he was hip, cutting edge, cultural, sensitive. The fountain - nice touch. The walk - patient."

"Since my book was first, he lost on all that, all the good stuff."

She revealed that they fought over what jokes to include in her best-selling book.

When Kimmel asked whether there would be a rift if Barack's book weren't included in Oprah's book club, the mom-of-two said:

"It might hurt his feelings, but he'll get over it."

She's not so soft with him!

In her book, Michelle made a shocking confession of when she came so close to "finding another guy."

She recalled how Barack told her he preferred to communicate with letters when away and how she managed to bring him to the 21st-century technology.

"Barack told me, ahead of leaving, that he preferred letter writing. I informed Barack that if our relationship was going to work, he'd better get comfortable with the phone. I announced: 'If I'm not talking to you. I might have to find another guy who'll listen.'"

Luckily, Barack listened to her, and they are still together today.

Barack and Michelle have been together for almost 27 years, and that makes us wonder, what's a marriage without a cruel little joke?
