Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama are a household name. And although you may be familiar with their strong marriage now, you may not know exactly how they got here.

The former first couple got engaged in 1991 and soon tied the knot on October 3, 1992. They will soon celebrate their 27th wedding anniversary. They have two daughters- Malia Ann Obama and Sasha Obama. And while everything seems to be just great between these two lovebirds, they were also times when the couple encountered problems and doubts.

Michelle wanted to find another man

For instance, Michelle has confessed to how she came close to finding “another guy”. In the shock revelation, Ms Obama spilled all when talking of her relationship with Barack Obama, after the ex-President told her he preferred to correspond via letter as opposed to phone calls.

In her best-selling autobiography ‘Becoming’, Michelle told readers about the serious warning she served him.

She wrote:

“Barack told me, ahead of leaving, that he preferred letter writing.

“I informed Barack that if our relationship was going to work, he’d better get comfortable with the phone.

“I announced: ‘If I’m not talking to you. I might have to find another guy who’ll listen.’

Likewise, the former first lady added:

“Marriage is a choice you make every day, you don’t do it because it’s easy. You do it because you believe in it. You believe in the other person. "

After all, despite the misunderstandings they have had, Michelle and Barack always find ways to solve the problem. They proved themselves to be a great team and partners.

Their life today

It's true that Michelle always wanted a bit more "normal life" for her family. That's why once they left office in January 2017, the Obamas took some well-deserved time off. They traveled to Italy, Hawaii, and even Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, a spot owned by billionaire Sir Richard Branson. They've been spotted white water rafting, on a yacht and even kite surfing.

Spending more time together they obviously become stronger. Power-couple goals? You bet!
