The Cervantes family is mourning the loss of three-year-old Adelaide Grace who passed away recently.

A few days ago, Hamilton actor Miguel Cervantes and his wife Kelly prepared for Adelaide's passing as the little girl entered hospice as she suffered a neurodegenerative disorder.

According to People, Adelaide experienced her first seizure when she was only seven months old and it was later discovered that this was due to epilepsy. A couple of months later, doctors diagnosed the child with infantile spasms.

Even though she was experiencing major health challenges, Kelly said her daughter was "feisty as hell" and described the little girl as "a warrior."

I have never met someone stronger in my life. She shared her opinions in her own way.

The family is heartbroken

In a statement shared by People, Miguel and Kelly announced that their 3-year-old child died on Saturday, October 12, shortly after she entered hospice care.

The Cervantes family is heartbroken to announce that their baby girl Adelaide Grace passed away early Saturday morning.

The statement said that Adelaide Grace was held "in the loving arms" of her family as she died peacefully. They appreciated the support and prayers from fans and loved ones who have reached out to them.

It was reported that Miguel will take a short break as one of the leading performers in the Chicago production of Hamilton but he intends to return soon.

A day after Adelaide's passing, Kelly shared a snap of her daughter's bedroom and revealed that the little girl died "surrounded by love" and that she's "free from pain."

Lending a helping hand

The struggles faced by their daughter inspired Kelly and Miguel to do their part in making a difference for children who are coping with epilepsy.

The family reportedly joined forces with the Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE) to launch a campaign that included a raffle of Hamilton-themed prizes and an opportunity to go caroling with the cast.

Adelaide's death was surely a devastating loss for the Cervantes family. Such a loss can be very tough but at times like this, it can be helpful to seek comfort from family and loved ones.

This little girl was brave while she was alive and her family will continue to celebrate that courage.
