Alex Trebek's best friend, Dr. Oz., opened up about the star's cancer battle in a new interview, saying a heartbreaking phrase: "He's down."

When the Jeopardy! host revealed he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the world seemingly stopped and went silent. His friends and fans could not fathom the entire situation at the time.

During several months, Alex Trebek has been sharing his journey, real feelings, and worries as he's undergone two rounds of chemotherapy. However, he has reassured everybody that he is "not afraid of dying" as he "has lived a good life, a full life."

Dr. Oz shared an update on Alex Trebek's condition. According to Closer Weekly, the health expert exclusively revealed he had spoken to the 79-year-old, stating, "He's down."

He's struggling with different forms of chemotherapy that are being offered to him, but I told him, and I do believe this, he's a soulful man who's always been optimistic about life — keep his confidence. The longer he stays alive, the better able we are to catch up to his pancreatic cancer.

Dr. Oz added to Closer Weekly that Alex Trebek is strong enough to win this ongoing battle.

If you know Alex behind the scenes, he's a golden-hearted man who is able to give so much to so many people, and the passion and the support you see on 'Jeopardy!' is what he does in person as well.

Earlier this year, Dr. Mehmet Oz sent a heartful message to support his friend, Alex Trebek, amidst stage IV cancer diagnosis. He told Access Online:

I don't think he [Alex] is putting a brave front on. I think he's made peace that he has a big battle. It's not a wind sprint; it's a marathon. And he's going to keep his eyes looking forward and look for the light.

Alex Trebek and Dr. Oz have always been on good terms. The health expert always admits how much he admires the TV host and how he always looks up to him. We wish a full recovery and strength to the Jeopardy! star.
