Ryan explained how, during the boy's 18-month checkup, Ford coughed "at the exact right moment" while the doctor was performing an abdominal exam.

He sat up, she was able to press her fingers in a bit deeper, Her eyes widened. Something was not right. From that moment came a day of terror and scans.

Ryan went on to say that his son's tumor was the size of a tennis ball and it was growing behind his abdominal wall.

Thankfully, the scary ordeal has a happy ending as he added that his son has recovered completely while he himself is yet to "emotionally recover."

I am so proud to proclaim that he is cancer-free.

His declaration led to excited applause from the audience as Ryan went on to share how the disease impacted his life.

He encouraged people to be more proactive in the journey to finding a cure to cancer as he shared that he made a $10 million to the hospital where his son was treated.

Terrifying parenting moment

Ryan Murphy once shared another scary moment he experienced with his son Ford who was 11 months old at the time.

While at Fox's winter Television Critics Association press tour, Ryan revealed that Ford had stopped breathing in the middle of the night when they called 911.

He appreciated the fact that the paramedics arrived and were calmly able to bring his son to life.

Having a child cope with a life-threatening disease is one of the most terrifying things for any parent. And it's such a massive relief when they scale through.

Congrats to Ryan for getting a happy ending to what was clearly a scary experience and here's hoping Ford continues to get stronger by the day.
