Actress Betty Lynn remains one of the last living ambassadors of CBS’s sitcom The Andy Griffith Show. Betty Lynn played Thelma Lou, Deputy Barney Fife's girlfriend.

She gained most prominence during the 1940s and 50s, appearing in several hit movies, including Meet Me in Las Vegas, June Bride, Sitting Pretty.

However, her personal life wasn’t as successful. She was engaged 3 times but never got married.

What happened to her?

Betty Lynn on The Andy Griffith Show was in a committed relationship but in real life, she was involved in quite a crazy love affair.

The Hollywood star dated several men but only one stole her heart. He was an attorney and a widower, who loved fine art and had troubles in making decisions about romance.

He also had another woman in his life, a friend Marilyn, and he was jumping between her and Betty. Despite that, he and Lynn were engaged three times. But it never meant to be.

Just four days before their wedding, he came to Betty’s house and said:

Marilyn came down last night and I want you to know I have deep affection for her.

So the wedding was called off. Since then, Lynn never married and remained childless till the rest of her life

Lynn now lives in Andy Griffith’s hometown, Mount Airy, which served as an inspiration for Mayberry.

After her L.A. home was burglarized, she decided to move there and has lived in the small Carolina own ever since. Up to this day, the 93-year-old is still treated like a celebrity in Mount Airy.
