One way to guarantee beautiful music is when individually talented people come together and make magic.

Dolly Parton's appearance

The famous country singer has been known to go all the way when it comes to her art. So when she stepped out on stage at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island, the audience can almost guarantee that they are getting nothing but the best.

Singer Brandi Carlile, who was the brains behind the show mysteriously listed as "♀♀♀♀: The Collaboration" didn't reveal the performers until they took the stage.

An incredible performance

For this particular episode, she invited a special guest to join her on stage and the crowd was thrilled to see Dolly Parton step up.

She took a minute to address the audience and expressed how proud she was to be "one of the girls" and how much she loves being around "all this girl power."

I love to see us do good. I love it when we get a chance to certainly present our music and all that.

What was easily the most memorable event of the day was when Brandi and Dolly sang 'I Will Always Love You' together. The two women perfectly blended and harmonized their voices while gazing into each other's eyes as they rendered Dolly Parton's classic hit.

A fun fact about the song

"I Will Always Love You" is a hugely famous song that reached the ears of millions of people. But did you know that, despite it sounding like a love song, Dolly Parton actually wrote it after a professional breakup?

The song, written in 1973, was meant as a farewell to her mentor and longtime duet partner Porter Wagoner and they never had a romantic relationship.

Hearing the different versions and covers over the years, it's easy to see why this music continues to tug at the heartstrings. It may not have been written to be a personal love song but it does denote a connection that's just as strong.
