Back by popular demand, music legend Rod Stewart returned to the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, September 27th. The concert event featured a landmark reunion set with his former band mate, also a two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, Jeff Beck, for what was their "most in-depth concert in over 35 years", according to a press release.

"They've still got it!"

The two legends formed The Jeff Beck Group in 1967. The English rock outfit, which also included Ronnie Wood, went on to release a handful of albums before disbanding in the early ’70s. The former bandmates have re-teamed sporadically since then, but the last time they were spotted together was back in 2009, when Stewart dropped in on a Beck concert in LA; the pair performed their 1985 collaborative single “People Get Ready”.

This time Stewart also seemed stoked during his 90-minute set of hits from across his career that opened a show that was mostly all his.

“You wait until me and Jeff get together, oh-ho-ho!”

- he said at one point midway through his performance. And they eventually did it! The show was comprised of "Blues Deluxe," "I Ain't Superstitious," "People Get Ready," "Rock My Plimsoul" and "Morning Dew."

“Blues Deluxe,” another Beck-Stewart original from “Truth,” closed out the show with some great, heavy blues-rock performance, and that was it.

Fans' reaction

Five songs together, 23 minutes ..and people who were left overwhelmed and a bit sad with the feeling that it wasn't enough.

It’s unclear if this Hollywood Bowl set was just another brief one-off or the beginning of a collaboration that can lead to their first album together in over 50 years. Fans have been teased many times before, but maybe now that they’re both in their mid-70s they are ready to put their misunderstandings aside and finally make something new together. If not, at least they made fans happy again one more time!
