Actress and political activist Jane Fonda is no stranger to speaking her mind.

The 81-year-old was arrested in Washington, D.C. on Friday while protesting against climate change on Capitol Hill, a representative for the actress confirmed.

What a brave woman!

Fonda was among 16 other people charged with unlawfully demonstrating on the East Front of the Capitol, a misdemeanor under a Washington law prohibiting protesters from obstructing public building entrances, Capitol Police said.

Inspired by the growing movement of young climate strikers, Fonda decided to move to the nation's capital for four months to take up their baton,

- a press release for the demonstration reads, per ET.

The woman wanted to support young climate change strikers such as Greta Thunberg, the Swedish teenager who sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in an emissions-free yacht to draw attention to global warming.

Fonda also told reporters on the scene that she planned to get arrested — not just today, but every Friday into 2020.

Mike Valerio, a reporter with the Washington TV outlet WUSA, posted video on Twitter of the 81-year-old, clad all in red, handcuffed and being escorted off the steps of the Capitol by authorities. A small group of protesters stood by, applauding.

"We have to ensure that the climate crisis remains front and center,"

Fonda said.

"I've been feeling that I wasn't doing enough."

People's reaction

Multiple people, in fact, admire her active position:

"You’re a hero! 🙌🏽"

- one person wrote, while another added:

" thanks for being brave!"

A third one said:

"Thanks queen💕"

This isn’t the first time she’s found herself in trouble with the law. In 1970 Fonda was arrested in Cleveland while protesting the Vietnam War.

It's due to people like Jane that we keep in mind global problems like climate change. She's been also advocating for women’s rights, gender equality, and many other crucial issues. Hopefully, she will be heard and required actions will be considered!
